A Prayer for Peace Concert
Music's power to inspire mankind has been chronicled over many centuries and across diverse cultures. Music expresses our passions - love, longing, anger, remorse - and serves as a powerful means of communicating our deepest thoughts and feelings about the human condition and the world around us. Because of music's ability to transcend language and express humanity's most fundamental desires, music serves as a universal cultural force.
Inspired by Leonard Bernstein’s artistic mandate "This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before" conductor Jason C. Tramm will lead a concert designed to underscore humanity’s universal connection through music.

"A Prayer for Peace" the first concert in Jason C. Tramm's classical peace concert trilogy took place Saturday October 17, 2015 at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, and featured classical music selections from four composers of Muslim, Jewish and Christian faiths whose music gives voice to hope in response to conflict and violence.
Selections will include Ahmed Adnan Saygun's Yanus Emre Oratorio, Behzad Ranjbaran's Elegy for Cello and Strings, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Ralph Vaughn Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem. While each work by these ethnically diverse composers reflects a unique personal statement, each composition expresses a universally resonant message, transcending time and place, uniting audiences in "A Prayer for Peace."
The MidAtlantic Opera proudly partnered with Seton Hall University to present an exciting concert featuring the MidAtlantic Opera Orchestra and Chorus, the Seton Hall University Chorus, with renowned vocal soloists under the baton of Maestro Jason C. Tramm.
